Evelyn Lo-Smith

Clay Collective Secretary

Evelyn encountered pottery one summer in high school. It was a brief program, but the feeling of joy while throwing pots on the kick wheel stayed with her. She moved to NYC for Parsons and then worked in fashion design for 20 years, immersed in the culture and chaos of the city. The year 2020 changed the course of her life as it did for many, and her family realized they were ready to move on.

Evelyn and her husband moved back to Georgia looking for a change of pace, but most importantly to spend more time with their young son. Soon after, she found herself missing a creative outlet and community. The search for this and the memory of joy from many years ago led Evelyn to Art Center West. She fell in love with clay all over again and considers herself so lucky to have found outstanding teachers, wonderful facilities, and a supportive community.

Evelyn can often be found at ACW on a wheel, exploring design, form, and nature through clay. She says, "It's hard to express just how important this haven of a studio and community is... but I hope to help give back in being part of the Clay Collective Board".
